| choices & balance - an update! |

After posting the previous entry "choices & balance" , I was overwhelmed with twitter 'retweets', facebook and blog comments and personal email messages and sideline conversations. You all not only confirmed and supported the decision I had made, you also proved to me, once again, that I am lucky to belong to such a phenomenal group of friends, family and colleagues. So many of us face the same family/work struggles and it's reassuring to know that we aren't alone in that battle.
I thought you might all like an update on the weekend!
It was, without a doubt, one of the most fantastic and memorable Labor Day weekends EVER. I saw Devan and Braeden play in a total of 7 games.....6 scheduled games and yes, one CHAMPIONSHIP game!
It was the first appearance for Braeden's team in this tournament and they fought hard and tough. The final outcome for their team was 0-2-1 but that really doesn't adequately represent the full picture. They tried their hardest and had fun and that's what matters most! The competition was tough and to come home with at least a tie was really quite an achievement!
A handsome bunch aren't they!? (Braeden is back row, last on right hand side) |

It was Devan's team's 5th and final appearance at this tournament. Chris has co-coached this team with Tim for all 5 years and have coached some of these girls every year since they first started playing. It's gone by fast....too fast.
They arrived as the defending champions from last year and I'm so very proud to say they left this year as champions once again! They were truly amazing to watch.....a powerful and dominant TEAM on the field.
And here they are.....(Devan is second from the left..giving the #1 sign!) |

After winning the game and shaking hands with the other team, they ran together in a line across the field to our sideline....smiling, laughing and celebrating...turned and ran back across yelling 'thank you' to all of the parents and fans there that cheered them on.
Like a giant mushball I stood there sobbing. So proud of them. So happy I was there. So overwhelmed by the fast pace that the years are flying by. |

I definitely made the right decision.
